Prof. Kolawole Solomon Oyedeji
Chairman, Board of TrusteeKolawole Oyedeji is a Professor of Medical Microbiology with the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos. He is a Medical Microbiologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Molecular Biologist, Health Logistician and Bioethicist/Health Research Ethicist. He is a World Health Organization (WHO) accredited trainer in project planning and evaluation/monitoring. He has also been trained by MEASURE EVALUATION in monitoring and evaluation of Public health programmers. His research interest is on the epidemiology of infectious disease. He is the Chairman of Initiative For Medical Diagnostic Awareness- IMDA (an NGO). Dr. Oyedeji Kolawole- a former board member- HEFAMAA combines expertise in both biomedical and behavioral sciences.
Adekoya Abimbola Julius - MBA
Executive DirectorAdekoya Abimbola is a medical scientist. He attended Ogun State College of Education Igbeba Ijebu Ode for Higher School Certificate Education (HSCE) and later graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University with a degree in microbiology in 1992. The zeal to be professional got him into studying Medical Laboratory Science from the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan (1996). He had master’s degree in Medical Microbiology from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (1999) And Master’s in Business Administration, Federal University of Technology Akure (2000).
He attended the prestigious School Of Ultrasound, University of Jos Teaching Hospital (JUTH) where he obtained a Post Graduated Diploma (PGD) in Medical Ultrasonography in 2009. Knowing fully that life is like riding a bicycle, you don’t fall until you stop pedaling, he went back to the College Of Medicine University of Lagos in 2014 to obtain yet another master’s degree in Anatomy. He has a postgraduate diploma in the department of Mass Communication of the University of Lagos.
He is the first Medical Laboratory scientist that was licensed by the Radiographer Registration Board of Nigeria to practice general ultrasonography. He has attended so many international conferences. He is a writer and has over 50 published articles in the national newspapers to his credit. Abimbola is the Executive Director of the Initiative for Medical Diagnostic Awareness (IMDA), Walk it out for Healthy Living Initiative {WIOHLI} & Medlad Unity Forum, Vice Chairman, Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors {GMLD}, Lagos State Chapter. National Public Relation Officer of Association of Medical Ultrasound Practitioners of Nigeria {AMUPN}. He is currently working with Bimade Diagnostic Service Lagos. Married to his queen, Mrs Vivien Emecham Adekoya and blessed with children.
Olaekan Adesola, FMLSCN, Ph.D
Executive SecretaryAdesola Olalekan is a lecturer 1 at the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Medicine of University of Lagos. She has her undergraduate training in Medical Laboratory Science, and has a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology. A Molecular Microbiologist. She is interested in research and teaching. Her research interest focused on the study of molecular epidemiology of bacteria especially the “ESKAPE” to unravel the mechanism of antibiotic resistance in the population of bacteria and also Chromobacterium violaceum, AO has research experience in mental illness at Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Yaba, Lagos, where she recently retired as an Assistant Director Medical Laboratory Services to join academic. She is a member of Africa Biological Safety Association and NBSA, a DFG/TWAS fellows, a DAAD alumnus, Secretary of IMDA, member of OWSD, WAFIRAN and women’s advocate. Interesting to her, she has a passion for people living with HIV/AIDS, (PLWA) that is why she has been involved in several programs and research that offer support for them both national and internationally.
Dr. Toyosi Yekeen Raheem -FMLSCN, Ph.D
Board of TrusteeToyosi Raheem is a Fellow Of Medical Laboratory Science Council Of Nigeria. He obtained a Master (M.sc) Degree in Medical Microbiology and PhD Degree in Medical Microbiology at Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye. He joined the Nigerian institute of Medical Research (NIMR) Yaba Lagos in 1996 where he works till date and he is currently a Deputy Director and Ag Head of Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory of the Institute. Dr Toyosi Yekeen Raheem is the immediate past National President of Association Of Medical Laboratory Scientists Of Nigeria (AMLSN). He is a member of the board of trustees (BOT) of (i) Initiative For Medical Diagnostic Awareness (IMDA), (ii) Nigeria Society Of Laboratory Haematology and Transfusion Science (NSLHTS) and (iii) Great 50 Initiative For Health (GIF Health).
His research is on microbial drug (antibiotics) resistance, strategies for reducing microbial resistance and reduction of infectious disease burden (especially in Nigeria). His PhD thesis was on investigation of mechanisms of drug resistance in mycobacterium tuberculosis: roles of chemosensitizers in reducing drug resistance in mycobacterium tuberculosis. He was also a co-investigator in the study on antibiogram of mycobacterium tuberculosis complex isolated from pulmonary tuberculosis patients in Lagos: among many other studies.
